Two more golds and Junior Girls win the Championship Shield at the English Schools - Day 2 report

It was a ‘Super Saturday’ for Sussex with two more gold medals and seven additional bronzes at the English Schools’ Championships in Birmingham.

It brought Sussex’s total podium places to a magnificent 15 with a final tally of four gold, two silver and nine bronze medals. In addition the Junior Girls team won the Championship Shield as the highest points scorers for top eight finishes and the Junior Boys were second in their category.  Overall this was Sussex’s best English Schools Championships result in recent history.

CBP’s toppled on a glorious day in Brighton at the Under 13 Champs

The sun shone and so did the performances of the 250 young athletes who descended on Withdean Stadium in Brighton for the Under 13 and Under 11 QuadKids Championships on Saturday.

It was the perfect weather for athletics and the youngsters did not disappoint. There were two Championship Best Performances and an additional six new CBP’s by virtue of the 100m, 200m and 1500m being contested for the first time.

The stand out performers of the day were Eastbourne’s Eleanor Strevens over 800m and Worthing’s Rio Williams in the High Jump.
