More Cross Country Championships Information

Despite the current wet weather, we do not anticipate having to postpone the Sussex Schools XC but should the weather change dramatically we will post news of the postponement on this, the Sussex Athletics web site. Schools are asked to keep an eye on the site prior to departure, should they be in doubt!

TV coverage of Cross Country Championships

It is possible that Brighton based Latest TV will be covering the Cross Country Championships on Wednesday at Waterhall, for their sports news programme which goes out every evening during the week at 18:20.

Clear protocols have been agreed with the station in accordance with standard safeguarding rules, but if any parent has an objection to their child appearing in any broadcast from the event they should notify their school.

Mountain Runner makes a molehill out of Lancing Manor

Crisp, sunny conditions greeted runners in the third instalment of this season’s Brooks Sussex League XC at Lancing Manor. International Mountain Runner Chris Smith dominated the men’s race, repeating his victory from last year. Smith, representing his new Second Claim club, Haywards Heath Harriers, got in front and was clear of the pack after a few hundred metres. The lead continued to grow and the peloton soon knew they were in a battle for Silver.

Titles at Stake at Lancing

The third of this season’s Sussex Cross-country League events are being held at Lancing Manor on Saturday and although the final league champions, of the season, will not be decided until February no less than five titles could be tied up this weekend.
Individual League titles are based on the best three runs while the team titles are based on all four fixtures.
