English Schools Championships

Best wishes to the team of 60 athletes representing Sussex who are today travelling to Gateshead in preparation for competing at the ESAA National Championships These are the "4th largest athletics event in the World". The timetable and further details of the event are available here, and the events will be shown live on the internet here,  

Schools Championships - Update

A big thank you to the  several people have responded to the request for assistance at Saturdays Sussex Schools Championships at K2, Crawley, although more would be welcome.

No qualifications are required (as fully qualified officials will be resposible at each event) so if you are available to help, even for a short period of time, maybe while you are waiting for someone to compete, please  EMAIL with your name and the time slot when you will be able to help. 

Schools Championships next Saturday - help needed!

The entries are now closed for the Sussex Schools Track and Field Championships to be held at K2, Crawley, next Saturday 11th June.  The complete programme of events and all the entries are available on the Schools Championships page - competitors and team managers are asked to check that athletes have been entered in the correct event, and to note the timetable, although events may run late if more helpers do not become available.

Sussex and Surrey schools combined events championships

Calling all would be Jessica Ennis-Hill's or Ashton Eaton’s - the Sussex Schools Combined Events Championships take place at K2, Crawley on Wednesday 1st June during the half term holiday.

For year 7 athletes there is a quadrathlon (Hurdles, Long Jump, Shot and 800m). For Years 8/9 and 10/11, athletes add the High Jump to complete a pentathlon. All competitors have to participate in all events. Parents or athletes can enter themselves - it does not have to come via the school.

Busy teachers as cross country season reaches its peak.

It is a busy few weeks for teachers involved with the Sussex Schools AA as they prepare for the highlight of the winter season, the English Schools Cross Country Championships to be held at Wollaton Park, Nottingham on 5 March. The teams to represent the County at this event have now been selected and are listed on the ‘Championships' page.

Cross Country Championships 2016

The first Championships are just over one week away and Schools are reminded that they must be affiliated to the Sussex Schools AA to be eligible. A list of those schools who have paid the subscription for 2015-2016 is available on the "SSAA information" page. Affiliation details are also available on the same page and have been sent to the last contact address we have for each school yet to pay.

2016 Cross Country Championship Details

The details of the 2016 County Cross Country Championships for Sussex Schools (years 8 and above) have now been circulated to schools. A copy is also available on this web site (see Schools: Championships page), but if your school has not received the details please contact the SSAA Secretary (see Schools: Information page).

AGM News

The Sussex Schools AA AGM was held at Dorothy Stringer School on 25th November. The Officers (see Information page) were re-elected having presented their reports for the 2014/5 year. There are vacancies for new members to join the Committee - please contact one of the Officers if interested.

Affiliation forms will now be circulated to schools with a request that forms are returned and payments made as soon as possible
