Six Golds for Sussex at English Schools

A brilliant second day at Birmingham saw the Sussex Schools team record one of their best ever English Schools results beating last year’s tally of five gold medals but overall equalled the 2016 total of ten medals.

Despite the loss of three potential medallists this was an excellent result for Sussex on a weekend when there were not any real disappointments and a couple of bonus medals.

Medals Galore at the Palace

Sussex athletes scooped a handful of medals in the Southern Counties Track championships at the Crystal Palace over the weekend including three gold medals and a Sussex record in the U20 events.

The record came in the javelin throw where Lewes’s Scot Staples, the talented County champion pulled out a brilliant effort of 59.68m which added just ten centimetres to Worthing’s Simon Kearney’s fifteen year old County record.

The other two titles went to U17 athletes who were competing up an age group.
