Congratulations to Steyning's Ian Richards who has triumphed once again at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Malaga with an M70 Race Walking 5000m World Championship Best of 25:51.34.

History was made at the Sussex Combined event championships at Carshalton over the weekend when Barry and Joe Morris from Eastbourne became the first ever father and son to win Sussex championship titles at the same meeting.

More CBP's on Day 2 of the Indoor Championships

On this second day of the Sussex Indoor Championships, held with the Surrey event at Sutton, four more Championship Best's were set.

The five recorded yesterday were all by men, but today the women had equal honours with both coming in the under 17 age group. First up was Millie Noyce (Crawley) who shattered the previous shot mark of 11.01 with a put of 12.65. In the hurdles her club-mate Katie Bristowe took 3 tenths off the old record when she crossed the line in 8.99 seconds.

Slaughter sets record at Sutton

While the youngsters provided the numbers of competitors it was 60 year Brian Slaughter who provided the records at the Sussex Combined Events championships at Sutton over the weekend.

Slaughter from Eastbourne Rovers has been a fixture of the Sussex athletics scene for the past forty years and he has always been a force in whatever age group he is in.

Slaughter, who had won the National M60 Decathlon title at Sheffield the previous weekend with 7,075 points, where he also beat American opponent in the Biannual UK/USA match.
