Brighton & Hove win YDL match - Anning breaks Sussex Record

Amber Anning improved her Sussex U17 300 metre record when she helped her Brighton & Hove Club to victory in the second of this season’s Youth Development Upper Age Group league matches at Winchester on Sunday.

In the first match, of Division One B, local rivals Portsmouth squeezed the Brighton Club into second place but on Sunday, despite fielding a depleted team the tables were well and truly turned as they romped away to win by more than one hundred points with 513 to Portsmouth’s 408. Southampton scored 381, Winchester 369 and Chichester 352.

Bronze for Lovell - - Sussex Record for Brothers

Hastings long jumper Elise Lovell took the first medal for Sussex on the first day of the British Universities Championships at Bedford when she picked up a bronze medal.

Competing in the long jump and jumping for Brighton University, Lovell leapt 5.62m while Brighton & Hove’s Katie Garland, jumping for Loughborough, finished in eighth place with a leap of 5.35m.
