Anning makes World Schools - Mullett gets World Standard

Brighton & Hove’s Amber Anning has been selected to compete in the World Championships. That is in fact the ISF Schools World Championships at Nancy in France from the 24th – 30th June.

England is sending a team of six girls and six boys to the competition. They have been chosen based on performance in 2016/2017 and many of them are English Schools' Champions and/or SIAB medallists. The athletes are mainly multi eventers and Anning will be taking part in the 400m, Triple Jump and the Relay.

Battles promised at Crawley

Entries are  up15% on last year for this weekend’s Sussex County Track and Field championships at Crawley’s K2 stadium but only in the Younger Athletes events.

With many of the top Sussex seniors away at University the lack of support for the senior events follows the nationwide trend of the past decade but although fields are small battles could be intense.  The senior women’s 200 and 400 metre battles, providing the main protagonists turn up for the starter, could be corkers.
