Five victories for Crawley at Yeovil

Despite losing many of their top athletes to the BUCS on Saturday the Crawley team did well to avoid the relegation area in the first of this season’s British Athletics League matches at Yeovil.

In what was a very tight Division two match just 70 points separated the top seven teams with Bournemouth winning with 322 points from Havering’s 303 with Crawley finishing just ten points adrift of Kent’s fifth place on 272 points and Crawley placing sixth ahead of Glasgow and Rugby.

Tough British League Battles - Ben Hawkes

It was a tough time for both the Crawley and Brighton & Hove teams in the British Athletics League matches at Bedford on Saturday when all five matches were held on the same day and at the same venue.

In Division two the Crawley club were again involved in a nail-biting match where just 68 points covered all eight clubs with Crawley eventually finishing in third place behind Herne Hill, 311.5 points, Kingstone & Poly 294, Crawley 278 and Bristol & West 268.

Currently, with one match to go Crawley are currently lying fourth on the League table.

Steady Start for Crawley and Brighton & Hove

There was a steady start for both Crawley and Brighton & Hove in the first round of the British Athletics League on Saturday.

Crawley finished fifth of eight teams in the Division two match at Kingsmeadow while Brighton & Hove placed third of six teams in their home Division four match which had to be switched from Withdean to Crawley because of work on the Stand at Withdean.
