Four golds amongst Masters medal haul at Malaga

The World Masters Championships are held every two years and the event brought together over 8000 athletes from 101 countries across five continents, to compete in four stadiums in five-year age bands from age 35.  Despite the use of multiple stadiums, the atmosphere and crowds were very motivational for all taking part.

Sussex fight at Kingsmeadow

Despite the difficulties in finding team managers for the Annual South East Senior Inter-County match Noel Butler and Elise Lovell did manage to get a few athletes to Kingsmeadow on Sunday to fly the Sussex Flag.

It was very much a skeleton team that struggled into sixth place of the eight competing Counties but there were some outstanding performances by Sussex athletes.

Championships Review

After one of the more successful County Championships of recent years we finished with a total of ten Championship Best Performances, most of which I had noted in my reports of the weekend’s activities.

I did however miss a couple in the Under 15 girl’s age group.

Molly Swingler from Eastbourne bettered Louisa Saunders’ (Phoenix) 42.6 clocking of two years back in the 300m with 42.48s when winning her heat and she improved this to 42.28s in the final.
