A near miss for Grice in Berlin

Charlie De’Vall Grice (Phoenix) just missed a medal in an exciting 1500m final at the European Games in Berlin last night.

Having qualified comfortably behind Edinburgh’s Chris O’Hare on the Wednesday, Grice ran a sensible race and was always in contention.

Amazingly the talented 17-year-old Norwegian, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, the youngest of the three siblings who had all made the final, led by the half way point and instead of his elder brothers pulling through to win, he kept his nose in front to take the title in 3:38.10s.

European Games and the Weekend.

Sussex athletes Sebastian Rodger and Charlie Da’Vall Grice have both been included in the in the United Kingdom team for the European Games in Berlin next month.

Rodger, from Eastbourne, takes the third place in the 400m hurdles while Grice (Brighton Phoenix) also takes the third spot in the 1500m.

At their best both could find themselves of the final.

Sussex domiciled Jade Lally from Broadbridge Heath leads the British Women’s discus line up.
