A set of medals at weekend's National Championships

Thanks very much to Martin Etchells who had a very busy weekend as Meeting Director for the Sussex Indoor championships and then produced reports while I was sans computer for several days.

There were few medals for Sussex athletes at the weekend’s National Indoor championships at Birmingham and the BUCS Championships at Sheffield.

Just one gold medal and that fell to County 400m hurdles record holder Bethany Close who forsook the hurdles and raced to a clear cut 200m victory in 24.35s.

Baubles for Sussex Athletes at Lee Valley

Sussex athletes scooped up four gold medals in the SEAA Senior and U20 Indoor championships at Lee Valley over the weekend plus Crawley’s Surrey sprinter Nicolas Baker who won the senior 200 metres in 21.78s.

Elise Lovell (Havant) was the only Sussex senior winner with a splendid personal best of 6.08m in the long jump, a distance that would have been a new Sussex record had it been achieved outdoors.
