Schools Update - Hastings Half

England Schools have updated last weekend’s Championships and have placed Tom James, who lost his chip in the mud, in a fine 26th place in the junior (U15) boys’ race, the first of the Sussex runners to finish.

This was a cracking run for the County Schools champion who lives over the border in Surrey but goes to school at Hazelwick.

This also lifts the junior team up from 18th team to a splendid 10th team spot. It does not however affect the boy’s Aggregate result and they remain in a splendid fourth place in Division One.

Fine running at Newbury -UPDATE -

There were top ten places for a trio of Sussex runners in the South East Schools Inter-counties match at Newbury in damp to wet and muddy conditions on Saturday.

It was Olivia Wiseman (Bishop Luffa) who chalked up the highest placing of the day when she finished an excellent fourth in the Intermediate (U17) race and there a fine runs by Alex Richer (Millias) and Lois Dooley (Shoreham) in the same race placing 18th and 23rd respectively and Milly Dickinson (Kings Hove) 26th.

Great Battles for Sussex Schools Cross-country titles

Twelve months back the almost certain winner of the Sussex Schools Inter (U17) boys cross-country championship was sent off course and he finished up with the bronze, instead of a gold, medal

On Wednesday at the Waterhall course in Brighton Thomas Eames (BHASVIC) now in the senior age group put everything to right as he proved a convincing winner of the Senior (U19) title in his first attempt in 24:26s, his third impressive victory on ten days.
