The third BAL and second UKWAL matches are being held this weekend with the Crawley men travelling to Bedford for their Division two match on Saturday.

After finishing a fine third in their last match at Rugby last month Tim Kimber is hoping for at least a repeat of that placing, in this season’s penultimate match.

Also on Saturday there will be 1k and 5k Walking races and training for Sussex Race walkers at the Lewes track at noon.

The Crawley women only have three matches per season and they are blessed with a home fixture on Sunday for their Division One match after finishing a disappointing sixth in their first match at Cardiff last month. Jo Rowland, the team manager and also one of the team’s busiest athletes, said “At least we were outside the relegation area” and she will no doubt be aiming for an improvement on home turf.

Also on Sunday the Sussex U17 team will be in action at the South East Inter-counties match at Lee Valley.

The South of England Combined events championships are being held on Saturday and Sunday at Oxford, which could attract some Sussex athletes.
